What is the MSE?
The MSE (Maxillary Skeletal Expander) is a type of MARPE (Mini-screw Assisted Rapid Palatal Expander) specifically designed for skeletal anchorage to achieve palatal expansion in non-surgical cases.
Components:
- Built-in Eyelets: Pre-integrated for the MSE TAD system.
- TADs: Only compatible with MSE TADs.
- Driver Options: Available drivers for TAD installation and adjustments include:
TAD Specifications:
- Sizes Available: 1.8 mm diameter with standard lengths of 11 mm and 13 mm. Special order for 15 mm is available if needed.
- Number of TADs: MSE appliances require 4 TADs for optimal stability.
Expansion Screw Sizes for MSE Type-2 Expander:
- Available Sizes: 8 mm, 10 mm, and 12 mm.
Turning Instructions:
- Activation Protocol: 6 turns per week for early teens, 4–6 turns per day for adults (0.8 mm/revolution, max 40–60 turns depending on screw size).
- Duration of Expansion:
- 8 mm: 40 turns
- 10 mm: 50 turns
- 12 mm: 60 turns
